


There's never any sense of the actual grievances that could have been the cause of such an overwhelming hatred of the Malazan occupation that nearly the entire subcontinent is lost in a matter of weeks.

Ultimately my biggest disappointment is that outside of very brief sections early in Duiker's POV, the book really fails to fully humanize the rebels of the Whirlwind in the way that the last book did with its main antagonist, Adjunct Lorn.
